oh comely audience blog task

1) How does Oh Comely introduce itself?
Oh Comely is launched by "Oh Comely is a strong blend of words and pictures, stylishly presented and much loved by its readers. It offers an alternative to the ' pile-it-high-sell-it-cheap ' aesthetics of mainstream magazines for young females, .... it is a breath of fresh air for a creative crowd desperate to discover something that talks directly to them in an affordable, smart and interesting way.

2) How do the print circulation/readership statistics for Oh Comely compare to Men's Health?
Print and circulation statistics are much smaller than Men's Health statistics, which highlights the fact that Oh Comely targets a niche audience and is therefore smaller than Men's Health as it targets a mainstream audience more.

3) How is Oh Comely distributed to the audience?
Through traditional independent stores, for example WHSmith

4) What do you think the target audience demographics for Oh Comely might be? Some details are provided by the magazine (e.g. average age 27) but make an educated guess on further demographic details.
The primary target audience varies from ages like 27-35 individuals who would read this primarily in the upper class because it is a niche magazine and this would be more associated with the upper class. ABC1 would be the demographic. The primary target audience would also be educated individuals, most of whom have a degree or are university graduates, so they would be more suitable, as they would get an understanding of it.

5) What psychographic groups might be attracted to Oh Comely?
The psychographic target groups in which Oh Comely could be placed would be, Reformers, who are those who want to alter the world and create a beneficial effect on society. Which links back to Oh Comely magazine's own description would suggest targeting psychographic groups of reformers and explorers with a focus on creativity, self-discovery and a rejection of consumerism and commerce

6) What social class classification would you expect most Oh Comely readers to be? Why?
Oh Comely readers ' social classification would be expected to be upper class because it's a niche magazine, so you'd be supposed to read it to an upper class crowd because of the subjects the magazine explores. This connects back to the psychographic communities as reformers would usually be individuals of the upper class spectrum.

7) What level of education would you expect for most Oh Comely readers? Why?
I think individuals at university and above, as Oh Comely utilizes a variety of vocabulary and quite a wide language, this will therefore be most consistent with individuals who go to university as they know it, whereas anything below that I think some individuals will struggle because of the variety of language usage and subjects mentioned in the magazine.

9) It has been suggested Oh Comely is a “magazine about people, their quirks and creativity rather than money and what it can buy”. How does the design and advertising content of Oh Comely support this view?
This is backed up by the way the magazine is laid out, it's not a conventional magazine layout because there are plenty of spaces in the magazine and that's something you wouldn't associate with a magazine that demonstrates Oh Comely's distinctive design and supports the ' niche ' magazine that's being depicted as well as the advertisements in this magazine are barely minimal and when the advertisements are shown throug.

10) Why do you think Oh Comely has been able to build a loyal audience of subscribers in the eight years since it launched? Think about audience demand, rival magazines and the overall media landscape in the digital age.
I think Oh Comely has been able to build a loyal audience because of their interaction with their audience and their unique brand and is therefore able to build a loyal audience, and as previous statements their main goal is not money, so the audience tends to be obliged to pledge their loyalty because they don't have their motives and goals in the magazine.
